Haddam Sustainability Council: Make your own cleaning products at home

(October 4, 2022) – Many traditional cleaning products on the market today contain toxic ingredients that are harmful to people, pets, and the planet. Alternatively, you can make safe and effective cleaning products at home, and most require only three or four ingredients for a fraction of the cost of traditional products. If you’re shopping for a detergent dispenser, consider a glass bottle to save the planet from more plastic.
Here are some basic recipes from The Simple Life by Julia Watkins or from theecohub.com. Ingredients such as essential oils and castile soap can be purchased at health food stores or online. Please note that all cleaning products must be labeled and stored in a safe place out of the reach of children and pets.
